About the PowerTalk Tools

PowerTalk is not supported in Mac OS 7.6. To help you retain
PowerTalk information, you can use the Business Card
Exporter and AppleMail Reader applications. This document
describes these applications and how to use them.

* You use the Business Card Exporter to transfer personal
catalog (business card) information to a tab-delimited text
file. You can also export business card information in
formats used by some popular e-mail programs.

* You use the AppleMail Reader to read AppleMail documents
when PowerTalk is not installed.

Business Card Exporter

The Business Card Exporter turns personal catalog
information into a tab-delimited text file, which can then
be imported into Personal Information Management (PIM)
applications and address books used by e-mail applications.
(Check with the manufacturers of your PIM and e-mail
applications for specific information on importing
tab-delimited files.) You can also use the Exporter to
create a file that can be imported into the Eudora and
Claris Emailer e-mail programs.

IMPORTANT Because PowerTalk must installed and turned on to
use the Exporter, you need to use it before you install Mac
OS 7.6.

* To create a tab-delimited text file from a personal
catalog file, drag the catalog file to the Exporter icon. In
the dialog box that appears, type a name for the text file,
then click Save.

* To create a file that can be directly imported into Claris
Emailer or Eudora, you also drag a catalog file to the
Exporter icon. When the dialog box appears, choose a format
in the File Format pop-up menu. Then name the file and click
Save.

The Business Card Exporter will only export information from
the standard set of pages in a business card. Extra
templates will not be included in the created text file.

AppleMail Reader

You use AppleMail Reader to open saved AppleMail when
PowerTalk is not installed.

IMPORTANT AppleMail Reader will only work with messages
saved in HFS format. To save AppleMail messages in the HFS
format, drag them out of your PowerTalk mailbox. You must do
this before installing Mac OS 7.6.

* After you install Mac OS 7.6, you can read a saved
AppleMail message by double-clicking its icon. You can't
create new messages; you can only read a message, print it,
or save it as a text file.

PowerTalk key chain and digital signatures

There are no migration tools for your PowerTalk key chain.
Make sure you know all the user names and passwords stored
in the PowerTalk key chain before installing Mac OS
7.6.There are also no migration tools for digital
signatures.
